Scripture Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter (Judges 5:25)
  • 2 cups sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey (1 Samuel 14:25)
  • 6 eggs (Jeremiah 17:11)
  • 4 1/2 cup flour (1 Kings 4:22)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder (Amos 4:5)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (Leviticus 2:13)
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon (II Chronicles 9:9)
  • 1/2 cup milk (Judges 4:19)
  • 2 cups raisins (1 Samuel 30:12)
  • 2 cups dried figs, chopped (Nahum 3:12)
  • 2 cups almonds chopped (Numbers 17:8)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Cream butter, sugar and honey
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices
  5. Blend into butter mixture alternatively with milk
  6. Stir in raisins, figs,  and almonds
  7. bake in greased and floured tubed or bundt pain for 40-50 minutes.  Use toothpick to test for doneness.  Cool 10 minutes and then invert on serving plate
